Statutory Rape.
Description
North Carolina vs. 'Confidential Client' - Attorney Patrick Roberts represented a client who was accused of having sex with a minor. The accuser identified the client during an interview at the police station. Using his legal acumen as a criminal defense lawyer for statutory offenses, Attorney Roberts questioned the credibility of the accuser and pointed out potential trial issues. Consequently, the Assistant District Attorney agreed to drop the statutory rape charge in exchange for a misdemeanor probation sentence, saving the client from the need to register as a sex offender.
