Description
State vs. 'Confidential Client' - The client was accused of murder, on the suspicion that he supplied narcotics which led to an overdose death. Attorney Patrick Roberts, a skilled murder defense attorney, utilized court-provided resources to hire a renowned toxicologist skilled to challenge the prosecution's case, particularly on the causal links between death and the narcotics. Mr. Roberts argued that the drugs his client allegedly provided did not match chemically with the substance that caused death. The alleged victim also had a known history of drug abuse, further weakening the case. Ultimately, Attorney Roberts negotiated a plea deal, facilitating his client to contest for a 58-month term for involuntary manslaughter and concealment of death, rather than a life sentence. The court imposed a sentence just two months more than the mandatory minimum, indicating his client could be released after serving merely five years, which is a considerable reduction from a potential life sentence.
